Technology has presented educators and students alike with many opportunities to engage and, therefore, much more to manage. From elementary to college, students remain distracted in virtual classrooms—or completely disengaged—as instructors find themselves competing with what youth perceive to be more entertaining on social media, cell phones, or activities within the comfort of home. Becoming Cage Free in Your Teaching will help instructors:- Incorporate entertainment and social skills into academic content and,
- Facilitate classroom discussion that yields further inquiry.
This course is comprised of interactive sessions to include an assessment at the end of each session, the Cage Free AR2ELesson Plan Template, a 27-page Becoming Cage Free workbook, Caged vs. Cage Free Assessment and culminating Becoming Cage Free presentation to be presented at the National Partnership for Educational Access in 2022.OBJECTIVES:
Session 1: Understanding the 21st Century Learner
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify and discuss their personal learning styles and how they impact instruction.
- Distinguish between a cage free learner and caged learner.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the 21st Century Learner.
- Design plans around a case scenario.
Session 2: Building Online Community
By the end of this session, participants will:
- Create an activity that fully engages the distracted learner and encourages online community development.
Session 3: Incorporating diverse learning modalities & the AR2E Method
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Identify ways to cultivate social, emotional, and academic development in the classroom.
- Apply AR2E by creating an assignment.
